Flue Gas Preparation

• Industrial flue gas need to be prepared for the CO₂ capture process
• This section cools and removes some pollutants from the flue gas entering the CO2 capture process by circulating water.

Wash Section

Ensures the capture of CO₂ does not cause local pollution.

Absorber

• The CO₂ in the flue gas is absorbed by the solvent as it travels upwards through the absorber.
• This absorption reaction releases heat causing a profile of temperature and concentration over the height of the absorber.

Heat integration

Stripping & regeneration

• The CO₂ is released from the solvent by adding energy in the form of heat.
• High purity CO₂ is collected at the top of the stripper and will be sent for transport, storage or utilisation. The regenerated solvent is routed back to the absorber to continue capturing CO₂.
